Hatsune Miku clock

November 5, 2007 |  by Jacques  |  Misc

Like the Hatsune Miku clock seen on the side of my blog? Clicking on Miku will wake her up from her slumber and report the current time in Japanese to you.

By clicking on the note, Miku will  sing a short verse before she dozes back to sleep again. Cool huh?

Well, you can have your very own too. But you’ll need to do know and require to do some basic html coding. If you’re a seasoned blogger, it should’nt be too much a hassle for you.

First, simply copy and paste this chunk of code below into your blog where you wish for the clock to appear:

<embed src=”The url of ur miku swf file” width=”150″ height=”180″> </embed>

Then go to Miku Clock and follow the method below:

Method on how to grab a copy of miku clock for you own without leeching other people’s bandwidth. :)

For Firefox user

1) Click on Tools > Page Info
2) Click the Media Tab on the Page Info Windows
3) The media tab will have complete list of Images, CSS Files and Shockwave Flash files that were downloaded by the Firefox browser while loading the page of the website.
4) Scroll down the list and locate mikuclock.swf file.
5) Click the “Save As” button and save the file.

For Internet Explorer user

1) Click Tools > Internet Options
2) Under General Tab, click the Settings button available in the Temporary Internet Files group.
3) Click View Files to open your Temporary Internet Files folder.
4) Click View > Details. Then click View > Arrange Icons By > Internet Address.
5) Once you find mikuclock.swf file, right-click and choose Copy. Then paste the .swf file somewhere in your computer.

Note: The above-mentioned methods will only work if your internet browser’s cache file has not been cleared yet. Make sure that you did not close the internet browser before you save the flash file.

An alternative way is to use download managers such as Flashget and Internet Download Manager, which both can get easily in the internet. For Flashget, use the ‘download all’ option, while for Internet Download Manager, use the Grabber tool.

and it’s done!

Update: 22 April 2009

Alternatively, you can download miku clock from me (last resort) after hearing many other experiencing problems with getting it using the above-mentioned methods. This link shall remain until it’s found that it’s eating up too much bandwidth.

  1. Hi, Crazyanimetuga from Dannychoo

    I tried to do that that you mentioned on his (danny) blog about putting it on text widget, well I tried it last night and today and nothing, I input the codes correctly because I tried it on my previous blog on blogspot and worked.

    When I input the codes and do save changes the code gets erased (the text widget is on a sidebar before I input the codes)

  2. hi Belela-san, I revert back to the default sidebar manager and tried the method. And the result came out was the same as yours.

    if you’re using free hosting from wordpress.com, they may not allow you to do html editing unless u pay them in order to unlock certain features like css-editing for example.

    Otherwise, You might wish to install plugins to help with the miku clock(if you’re blogging on a paid hosted server) or try post in wordpress.org for help. I suspect the problem might b similar to embeding youtube video to wordpress. It’s just my guess and I’m not really sure since I not very knowledgable with html. I usually do trial & error with them till i hit the jackpot. hope it helps Belela-san.

  7. Hi, can u tell me how to put miku clock on friendster, or myspace etc.??

    [Reply]

  8. @nako,
    she does but only when you click on the music note on the left. Otherwise, clicking on her will have her report the current time.

    @ai-chan,
    Let me apologise for the late reply and also for being unable to aid you much in your question since I have no prior experience with myspace or friendster before, so the only advice I can give is, you’ll have to try and find an option where it allows you to insert the source code into a text or html editor (or widgets in the case of wordpress) on the platform that you’re using.

    Do drop me a comment if you manage to get it working on myspace and friendster, it’ll help others with similar issue in future greatly. I wish you success in the endeavor.

  16. @Itachi,

    I’m glad that it worked for you. Enjoy! :)

    @Kenero,

    From your 1st reply, I guess that the file you downloaded could be incomplete or corrupted hence, it wouldn’t stop playing.

    I’ve zipped the file, uploaded and updated the post so that you can grab it.

    Lastly, chances are the miku clock will not work on facebook, myspace, friendster & hi5 since they do not support embedded html on their site. But I could be wrong so correct me if you get it working on the above-mentioned places. However, it should work fine on blogspot.

    The 2 most important point to get it working are, that you have a place to store the .swf file online and the storage supports direct-linking to it. Secondly, you should have permission in the place you’re posting, to allow you to write the html embed code. Otherwise, it will not work.

    @kiola,

    if you have the flash file on your desktop, you’re already halfway there to get it working. (double-clicking it should get it playing on your computer, unless you do not have flash player installed then it will not work.)

    Your next step now, should be looking for a place to store this file on the internet, so that you can hyperlink to it and get it working. :)

  19. Where can I host swf files so I can embed it?

    [Reply]

  20. @Kenero,

    thanks, I’ll be waiting for you results of your experiment.

    @Racyrila,

    not at the moment though.

    @Yi,

    you can host it on your hosting server if you had one. But seeing that you’re using a wordpress.com account, I don’t think it’s possible. What you can do now is probably try and see where others are storing their Hatsune Miku and follow their link.
