SD Gundam Capsule Fighter

The SD Gundam Online is based on the popular Japan anime Gundam series. It’s a MMOFPS, that is Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter that allows players to take command of Units involving all gundam eras such as: Universal Century, Seed, Mobile Fighter G Gundam and many more, and battle it out in a gameplay similar to the PC game Exteel. I happened to chance upon this piece of information from RIUVA’s Tsubaki’s post on ‘Gundam Online: Capsule Fighter’ and then through further digging on the WWW (World Wide Web) and wiki, revealed these pieces of information below which I’m about to share with you. According to a search on wiki: On January 4th 2008, Shanghai-based game company 9You today announced its licensing agreement with Bandai Korea to operate an online action casual game, SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online (SD Online) in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

At the moment, there has been no news of an international release. There were rumors however of a Japanese release but not much is revealed. 9you now has a website available for SDGO, The game is now in beta . Registration is easy. But you’ll need CSSN (a Chinese ID to be exact) to register, the purpose of the CSSN is not to prove if you are chinese or not, but to prove that you are at least 18 or above of age. GamePlay The game allows multiplayer up to 8 players, or co-op missions of up to 4 players. Multiplayer matches rewards players with points (in-game currency) and experience, with bonuses for the winning team or players, and additional bonuses based on game length. Mission rewards are randomized, and may sometimes include additional items. The Mobile suits can be obtained via rental, random purchase through capsules (hence the title), and through mixing. Mixing requires the purchase of a Mixing Plan, a fully upgraded “key” mobile suit, and a number of specific component suits that get discarded during mixing. Ranking & Strengths The strength of a mobile suit is described by its rank. ‘C’ ranks are the weakest and most common, having four lives in multiplayer games while ‘B’ ranks have three lives, but are more difficult to obtain. And finally ‘A’ ranks of course, are the strongest suits, but have only two lives. If you played Gundam First Person Shooter before in arcade or on Playstations (PS 1st generation, PS2 or PSP ) , you definitely get the ideas of the ‘lives’ system. Certain mobile suits have rare CR, BR, and AR variants (‘C’ rank Rare, ‘B’ rank Rare & ‘A’ rank Rare ), which can only be capsuled, and have different weapons or abilities. Additionally, there are also CS, BS, and AS (‘C’ rank Special, ‘B’ rank Special & ‘A’ rank Special ) mobile suits, which are similar. However, they can only be acquired through mixing. Mobile suits are further categorized into rock, paper, and scissor types, with a self-explanatory relationship. Rocks are oriented to hand-to-hand combat, whereas papers are long-range, and scissors are all-round. Customization & Add-ons The game has a high degree of customization available . Players can purchase paint sets and stickers to change the appearance of mobile suits, and tweak their stats slightly. Unfortunately, rare items, such as red paint, extra storage, operators, and room themes, are unobtainable with in-game currency, and can only be purchased with real money. PV (Promo Video) System Requirements Minimum Recommended configuration CPU 1.7GHz Celeron RAM 256MB Operating System Windows 2000/XP Graphics Cards Geforce4 MX440 or better DirectX Directx 9.0c Hard disk space 2GB and Recommended configuration CPU Pentium 4 1.6GHz and above RAM 512MB Operating System Windows 2000/XP Graphics card Geforce6600 or better Hard disk space 2GB The installation file that needs to be downloaded and installed on your PC is 741MB. Despite being rendered as SD (Super-Deformed), I think the graphics looks good unless you’re expecting Square Enix’s Final Fantasy level of 3D or preferred them modeled in their original form. I would say the modelers has done a decent job modeling them into 3D Super Deformed. Most unfortunately though, is that the game is being limited to only China at the moment (wonder if Korea included in beta since it’s involved in the collaboration ). If not , I’ll most definitely gives this a try and I’m sure fans of the gundam series will not give this game a miss too. Will you have a go at this MMOFPS if it’s made available to you? or would you sit this one out? If anyone of you out there happen to get a chance and is currently playing this right now, do give us your feedback on the game so that we who can’t, can know more details about it. Do not hesitate to correct me too, if I have any of the information above wrong. Coincidentally, this marks the 200th post (Yay~) for myself and a lengthy and in-depth one too, which I hoped to be able to do more in the future rather than the short image posts currently produced.
