A MSV (Mobile Suit Variation) of the 00 Gundam equipped with a Seven Sword system designed for the 00 Gundam has appear. Mark, in his own article on the “00 Gundam 7 Swords” has marked out what he believed to be the seven swords used in this variation.

The two swords mounted on the calves appear to be the pieces that used to be attached to the GN Drives mounted on the 00’s back. Then the twin blades on its hips are now replaced with a shord and long sword which brings it back to the days when the Exia had the same two swords on its hips. The standard pair of beam sabers are still mounted on its back and then the seventh piece is the buster sword that mounted on the left GN Drive which can swing backwards like it was sheathed at the back of the mobile suit. Pretty neat!
The first impression that when I had, when I initially saw this variation was, ‘This equipment would not be realistic & feasible on land combat’. Because with such a huge Buster Sword & lengthy blades (GN Katars, not to be mistaken as GN Blades) attached on its calfs, the mobility that the 00 Gundam was designed for, would be compromised. However, if deployed in space, this would not be an issue because of the weightless nature in space.
The Buster Sword as many has pointed out, reminds them of the Astray Blue Frame 2nd L from Gundam Seed Astray. The handle especially looks almost like the one Astray Frame Frame 2nd L had, then again maybe it’s just me being picky. The best part of the Buster Sword is that it can double up as a GN-Shield, doubling dual Solar Furnace protective capabilities to create a bigger & stronger GN-Field, capable of shielding several Mobile Suits. Iron2000 and Sentinel011 from The Bonkurasu Brigade has given us an insight of this Gundam 00 7 Swords in their article: “00F: Gundam 00 ‘7 Swords’ MSV“, with a detailed translation and breakdown on the technical information surrounding this 00 Gundam MSV. I would seriously recommend anyone who wants to know more about this 00 Gundam MSV, to have a read on their article to learn more. In their article, they have pointed out that none of the swords from this MSV are attachments from the 0-Raiser nor shield region of 00 Gundam, but rather an entirely different weapon system conceived before the Twin Drives were fully functionally. And this ‘7 Swords’ is an evolution from the one used on Exia. So what do you guys think of this 00 Gundam MSV (Mobile Suit Variation) ? *edit (updated on 27/10/2008) : procced to 00 Gundam 7 Swords – Part 2 to see the gunpla kit version of the 00 Gundam Seven Swords

A little over the top, but I guess that’s in line with the feel of the series.

If Bandai ever releases a HG or MG version of this model, it’s gotta come with plastic cement, UHU glue, superglue, screws, blots, nuts or some other adhesive element to make sure the shoulders don’t drop off.
I mean, come on, ENOUGH of messing around with the shoulders already. Avalanche Exia at least made sense in some odd sort of way because it carried its weapons on its back.
First a Gundam face that plays peek-a-boo when you’re behind Selavee. Then a Virtue that doubled as a signal-set. And now a Gundam who’s gonna stop the war from blowing itself up lugging a huge-ass sword on the shoulder? Geez.
Cloud kicked Sephiroth’s ass & saved the world carrying his Buster Blade on his back, mind you.

It looks like a cliche to me.Nothing new juz the adding.

@charge, @Boo
same here. hoped it get released asap with 00 Season 2 ending soon.
@Martin Wandering,
quite true, imagine it walking lop-sided with all that wait on one side.
@deathscythe,
did not realise this till you pointed it out, carrying that huge sword on the back is much more feasible than on one side of the shoulder. That explains the odd feeling I kept having but couldn’t quite point it out while looking at the 7 Swords.
@FL0,
yea, aside from the extra equipment, it really isn’t anything new.
@unkown,
it appears in the one of the 00 side-stories, it will not make an appearance in the anime.

it’s cool looking, but a bit unconventional. I’d prefer that the standard gn sword II be in the weapon set as well. Long range abilities makes the 00 gundam a much stronger unit. Also, as others mentioned, the really huge sword needs to be on the back, not the shoulder. Or better yet, make it gundam eight swords and give it another buster sword on the other side.

@InjuredPelican,
yup, the 7 Swords design looks geared towards close combat like it predeccessor, Exia. A long-range weapon/capability will make it a great all round machine. The current 00 Gundam seemed to be capable of close and mid-range attacks, although if I’m not mistaken the addition of 0 Riser seems to resolve the issue.
