Gameboy to be put to sleep?? According to GameDaily.biz’s interview with Nintendo marketing exec. George Harrison, he was quoted saying, “It’s hard to say in the future if we will ever bring back the Game Boy trademark”.

“It was a big risk for us to actually pass on it and call the new product the Nintendo DS, but it was part of Mr. Iwata’s philosophy that if we’re going to make a radical difference and try to reach a new audience, then we have to change the name… We had to make a break even though we had one of the greatest trademarks in the history of the industry.”While Shigeru Miyamoto recently confirmed to Kotaku that Nintendo’s internal development teams have shifted their focus away from the GBA so that they can concentrate on Wii and DS titles.Well, if all this was to be true, it would not to be hard to see why. Given the huge phenomenal success of the DS, many has pretty much abandon the Gameboy and hopped onto the DS bandwagon.Nonetheless, fans should not get too upset since it’s only the name that retiring, Nintendo is still churning out new DSs and DS title for us gamers out there. To me personally, DS is still pretty much the good ol’ Gameboy that i know since childhood except that now it’s all grown up and changed it looks, features and it’s name to ‘DS’.
