A 3m bronze RX-78 Gundam monument has been errected at the Kamiigusa Train Station.
The statue was unveiled on Sunday outside Kamiigusa Train Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line in Tokyo’s Suginami-ku, near Sunrise, the anime production studio that brings us the anime, Gundam.

The cost for making the bronze statue? A whopping 20 million yen(approximately 200,458 USD accordiong to XE.com currency conversion)!! (silly me, my title post should have already given you the answer before this question) This RX-78 Gundam statue was forged using 1,300 degree Celsius hot molten bronze and took 2 years in total to complete.

If you’re wondering who this huge green frog is above, his name is Keroro or better known as Sergeant Keroro in the North America.
Those who watched Keroro Gunso, will know know how much Keroro loves his gunpla. Hence, for the celebration of the recently erected Gundam Statue, Gunso was tasked with the role of being the acting stationmaster for the Kamiigusa Train Station for a day on March 23th.
While it may be great to see such an iconic figure from the popular anime series cast into a statue, I have my own reservation on whether was it really necessary to spend so much money on it.
What do you guys think?
Was the money well-spent? Is there any better alternatives to take if you were tasked with the job?
