This is from one of my favourite non-Gundam series mech, Kibougo from the anime series; Kenran Butou Sai - Mars Daybreak or “絢爛舞踏祭ザ・マーズ・デイブレイク”.

“Kenran Butou Sai - Mars Daybreak” is 26 episode long, and aired from 1st April 2004 to 23rd September 2004.

Story Summary [via Anime News Network]
Mars’s surface is covered with ices and oceans. Therefore, in order to live, people built “City Ship”; a large submarine which can move slowly. Because the water on Mars was important resource of energy, the Mars was the strong point of water resource for the Earth government. After that, the galaxy scale war broke out. The Earth was also involved the war. Because of the special demand for the war, Marian economy grew. However, after the war ended, in addition to postwar confusion and the oppression of the government, the Martian economy was suffered from big slump. The complaints of the Martian grew, and the rebellion took place in various places. The independent movement got into stride.

Furthermore, pirates grew in number to attack the military facilities. The Earth government organized the military unit for the Mars, and began to suppress the independent activities and the pirates.

Additionly, the series is also available in manga form which comes in 2 volumes.

This is the current progress of my kit.

Progress & Thoughts:

This model was bought some 2-3 years ago and rather embarrassingly, the current progress is still stuck as seen in the above image. Masking tape on the legs & shoulders and some missing parts that have yet to be assembled on can be seen.

Overall, I’m somewhat satisfied with what has been done, though I’m having second thoughts on the black joint areas since they were painted to my own preference rather than according to the color guide from the assembly booklet. Panel lines are also half done to see the whether they look good.

In the worst possible scenario, I might even consider totally sanding down the paint that was initially sprayed on and redo the whole paint-job, with some shading added this time round.

Original Look:

Below is the look of the kit after treatment(i.e. paint-job & panel-lining) by Bandai

Since the mech design does not have foot, the only way to display it standing is with the use on display stand that comes bundled with the kit.

Roundup
The fact that there have been some other recently acquired kits at hand, this model may only be completed when there’s free time after finishing up a bit on the rest. Or I might even think of taking a 1 week leave of absence from job to finish up all this kit.

And hopefully by that time, I’ll already save enough to buy a decent digital camera to take better photos of it to share with everyone. Currently, the photos shown in the post are taken with my mobile phone - Sony Ericsson W810i.
