MG Exia announced

The rumor that was floating around the internet finally came true. Bandai has revealed that they will be releasing a Master Grade in July at the 48th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2009.

I like the Boxart design, do you like it too?
MG Exia
MG Exia

Parts for Exia-Re is actually included. If you can include the optional parts for Exia-Re, why do you not go all the way and included a GN-Sword III?

However just like Z, I’m not too thrilled about the news despite that the Exia finally made it to the Master Grade release. Compared to the 1/100, there isn’t much improvements, the proportions isn’t really all that fantastic as compared to GMRevo’s Exia and WonderExcellence’s Exia. I was actually hoping that the MG release will be something close to those 2. Also,the GN Sword looks somewhat fat instead of being long and sharp. :(

The MG Gundam Exia is set for July release, with the Regular version priced at 3,990 Yen, and the Ignition Mode priced at 6,875 Yen (inclusive of tax), with Ignition Mode First Batch Release Ver. – 5,250 Yen. With the latter release to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the MG series.

Knowing Bandai, you can expect a variety of different rendition the MG Exia just like it predecessors before, expect another release with the GN-Sword III included or better yet a Gundam Exia Avalanche. So unless, you really want it that badly, I’ll suggest that you hold off that purchase for now.

Despite not being overall pleased with this release, I still going to get it just for the sake of that Exia-Re mode.

So guys, are you gonna grab that MG Exia off the shelves , the moment it hits your local stores or online hobby stores?

    Still getting it. My 1/100 Exia’s joints are so loose after a lot of posing. Same goes for my Dynames, so I hope there’s an MG for that to replace it.

    Still, I’d like for an MG Virtue and an MG Seravee more.

    Uuh…i dunno, actually i really prefer Exia than 00 design. But, 00 riser with GN Sword III is cool too. So initially, i’m just wait for MG 00 raiser and don’t want to fall at Bandai trap when i bought Strike then Freedom out ^^;.
    But seeing ignition mode is made me drolling too. Esp. With LED and chrome parts gimmicks.

    behemothzero: Buy some wood glue to tighten up those joints. Seperate your parts so you can get to where the pvc joint plugs in, and fill that hole up with enough wood glue so that a little bit overflows when you put the joint back in.. which you want to do right away. Do NOT wai\t for the glue to dry, put the pvc joint back in right then. The glue will not bond the two plastics together. After you have done both sides of the pvc part and have reasembled the parts, let it dry. (see bottle for how long. ) After drying move the joint like normal to break the glue apart on the inside. What this has done is create a layer around the pve joint and the plug, tightening the joint. It works great. My Exia and Dynames are no longer losey goosey. :P

    Personally, I’m not expecting any MG’s from 00 aside from this Exia, any variations of Exia (inclusing Astraea), the 00 Gundam and the 0 Gundam. The 0 Gundam has the RX-78 homage going for it. The 00 is a no brainer. I don’t think further MG’s are entirely out of the question if the Exia’s inner frame is suitable to be used for other suits.. which is probably is.

    Why won’t I be surprised be the folks at Bandai pull another one of those “oh look, here’s the same product but slightly modified” tricks on fans out there.

    Personally I’m appalled at how Bandai released 2 versions of essentially the same HG model kits for 00: there’s the normal Arios Gundam, for example, and the Trans-Am version of the same thing. The Gundam Seed franchise already did a very good job at milking us peeps of our money…I mean, look, they’re STILL releasing Astray variations even today! Looks like 00 might just outdo Seed in the marketing department, haha…

    Didn’t know that. What I thought of doing was just to use some superglue and do a permanent pose. Thanks for the heads up :D

    Wood glue works pretty well in most of the kits I’ve used it on. It does seem to work best on kits that had tight joints to begin with. After applying the glue to both shoulder thrusters of my MG GPO2, only one seemed to really tighten up. The left shoulder still droops, but I may have not put enough glue in there.. But the 00 kits I’ve used it on have had great results.

    I’m getting both the 1/100 00-Raiser and the 1/100 00 Raiser Designer Color Ver this June… I also have the 1/100 Seravee but am seriously considering getting the Designer Color Ver. of that as well. Cherudim, not so much (the 1/100 Cherudim kit was pretty disappointing imo, it’d take a lot to make me buy a recolored version), and the Arios maybe (I like my 1/100 Arios, but not enough to buy a recolor). Needless to say, all that’s left of my money goes to food and transportation >_>

    Actually, I’m getting this for the sake of the Exia:Re. The cloak, if it is that white fabric, looks kind of disappointing.

    I rather also get the MG Exia than MG 00, just because 00 doesn’t really fit my tastes.

    I also do predict, just like the Strike Gundam (with branches of Noir, Pink Rogue, Launch, Buster, etc…), that Exia might also get that same (what I call stupid/pointless) upgrades.

    Exia is such a great piece of design, in my opinion, but it’s quite disappointing that the MG looks quite similar to 1/100.

    Unless the polycaps and poses are better, than I guess MG would be worth getting, but like I said, just for the sake of :Re.

    I’m cufused why anyone would buy the Designer’s Colors of a kit they already have…. I mean they are the same colors just in a different shade.. not worthy or release imo.

  11. pled says:

    Finally an MG from 00 series…
    But why Exia…? Well, I guess it was pretty normal.

    Not really different than 1/100 scale, only more detailed and have inner frame.
    Then again, 00 series’ kit are considered as the best, in poseability (at least HG one).
    But why they didn’t also include the R2 conversion? Don’t tell me they’re trying to separate it into another release…

    And…there are another Designer Color’ version other than 00 Gundam?
    Never heard of it.

    @charge:
    Normal HG 1/144 00 Raiser (2 kits, 00 Gundam+0 Raiser) and Designer Color did not have any difference, other than color and pack 00 Gundam and 0 Raiser together.
    In 1/100 scale, the Designer Color have GN Sword III. That’s big difference.
    HG 1/144 00 Raiser Designer Color maybe really worthy release, but 1/100? I think it’s worth it. Well, if you didn’t have 00 Raiser before or want another one to make paintjob on it.

    I was refering to the 1/100ths of Cheridum, Arios and Seravee. Obviously the 00 Raiser with the GN Sword III is different.

  13. EXkurogane says:

    This is why i haven’t buy any Gundam 00 S2 kits yet. Damn Bandai, every single Gundam from both HG 1/144 and 1/100 scales are released in at least 2 versions, with 1/100 Arios, Cherudim and Seravee Designer color ver. coming out, and HG 1/144 of Arios, Seravee and Cherudim with the extra weapons WITHOUT TRANS AM GLOSS as well.

    Apart from waiting for MG 00 Raiser, i doubt i will buy any other kits from Anno Domini, maybe 1/100 Reborns Gundam (or who will my 00 Gundam fight against in poses?) i am waiting for since i am kinda like boycotting Gundam 00 products, and the fact i didn’t really like Gundam 00. On SEED Astray variations, i didn’t really care about it since i liked SEED.

    Even till now i only have 4 HG 1/144 kits from Gundam 00 S1. We already have MG Exia and MG Exia Ignition mode. Expect an Extra Finish Version as well.

    I want 1/100 non-Gundams. The 1/100 Tieren is one of my favorite kits from the 00 1/100 series. GN-X, Ahead, Garrazo, Masurao, whatever. I also want something other than a robot with a red tongue sticking out.

  15. Jacques says:

    @behemothzero,

    there’s actually a very remote chance that Bandai might actually release them, judging by the way they’re releasing HG kits in these few years. Shouldn’t be surprise if the trend eventually from HG spill into the MG.

    @eyeshield30, @Asianblade75
    same here. Exia > 00 Gundam < 00 Gundam 7Swords. :D

    @charge,
    agree with you on the last part that the Exia’s inner frame is basically the frame and model to be used for other suits just like Astray & Strike.

    @deathscythe, @Vincent,
    i guess that is to be expected of them after knowing them for so long ;)

    @Vincent,
    time to practise more restrain from now on, now that you know how they work.

    @Asianblade75,

    same here. probably will be getting it for Exia:Re.

    @pled,
    the Exia is the 1st MS in Gundam 00 so naturally it will be release 1st. Just like Strike Gundam comes before Freedom,etc.

    the Designers’ color is only announced recently so it’s not surprising that you haven’t heard of it yet. It’s basically the same thing except in different color.

    I would really love it if a MG 00 Raiser came out soon. The PG 00 Raiser is very very expensive, so i dunno if i will ever buy that.
