Stardust Memory- Stipulation of Gerbera

Stardust Memory- Stipulation of Gerbera

I was browsing through my drafts when I found this buried amongst them. I was supposed to post this article but decided to postpone it so that I could concentrate on preparing for my exams during that period of time. And a series of hosting problems that happened thereafter had me completely forgotten about its existence.

It was not until I was reading through DC23’s blog where he featured this as his “2009 Gunpla of the Year” that I remembered about it.

GP-04 diorama

Julius first caught my attention with his diorama “Stardust Memory- Stipulation of Gerbera” for BAKUC 2009, where a GP-04 stands on top of a wrecked GP-03 Dendrobium.

Julius Lim hails from Penang, Malaysia. Though a beginner in blogging, he certainly has very impressive skills to boot for a modeler. The manner he crafted the entire denbrodium from scratch, certainly speaks volumes about his modeling abilities.

Upon further reading through his blog entries, I’ve uncovered more great dioramas that Julius has previously constructed. Such as the following:

BAKUC 2008 – Sinanju

The Sinanju that he had scratch-built. I couldn’t tell it that was scratch-build from the first look from the photos, until I read and looked further into his entry.

Stage19 – The Moon In The Darkness (Eva Dio 1998)

A non-gundam diorama for a change but just as equally impressive.

DC23 has nominated Julius’s “Stardust Memory- Stipulation of Gerbera” for his “2009 Gunpla of the Year” and it is not difficult to see why.

Any thoughts on the “Stardust Memory- Stipulation of Gerbera” diorama after seeing it? With 2009 will be ending in another couple of weeks, I would like to pose you the following question:

“If you had to choose, which would you choose as your Gunpla/Diorama of the Year 2009?” For diorama’s case, would this “Stardust Memory- Stipulation of Gerbera”, “The Graveyard by DC23 ” or “The Sinanju Diorama” be your choice or will it be something else. If so, post a link to the diorama of your choice. The same goes for your choice of gunpla for 2009.

For my choice of the “Diorama of the Year 2009″, my vote goes to DC23’s The Graveyard. As for Gunpla of the Year, I’m still deciding and looking around for it. What’s yours?

  • A scratch built dendrobium!! That's super awesome!

Love the eva dio also, looks very natural :D
  • Yes, what I loved about the eva dio is the soft focus of the subject. The contrast does not come out harsh and hard, making it look very soothing on the eye and comes out very naturally..
  • This is the first time I don't get that weird kinda angry feeling at seeing a Gundam whalloped and defiled....only because I don't really like the GP03, but BOY HOWDY I loves me some GP04.

This is outstanding. I love the melted metal around the large beam cannon where it was cut short, and the slash through the I-Field generator.

Awesome. I love the Zeon/Delaz Fleet emblem on the hip armor. Now if only that was Gato in the GP04...then I'd be THRILLED! (Love Gato, not a big fan of Kou.)
  • The manner where the parts got battel-damaged was very realistic, just like how it would turn out if it was a scene from the show.

Kou was too much of a hot head for my liking, I don't really like to use him in GGenerations and SRW games. I think it would be great if we could see Gato in GP04 squaring off against Kou in GP03 Stamen.
  • I was right, hihi...you featured this monster after mine. hehe...wicked scratch building!
  • lol, you were spot on! I didn't realise it too till I read your post.

The way which he scratchbuild the denbrodium was what I like best, very impressive work and effort put in there.
  • BlackSun88
he make all that by his own, thats god damn awesome !!! and he is from malaysia, so i will definitely vote for him hehe
  • Yes, he did them all by himself and that is quite a tremendous effort put in there. Truly impressive
  • Oh man....that is some crazy scratch building!!! Very very ingenious dioramas...

I'll go with the GP03 diorama ^^ It is from my favorite series! I kowtow in respect and awe of their works!!
  • The work on the denbrorium was truly a masterpiece. Very inspiring work indeed.
  • wow, this is really breath taking... I saw the photo back then but your photo tells more.

GP04... the poor unit that doesn't even appear in 0083. It is downgraded so much that it got 1-hit-killed by GP-03 xD
  • Yes, it was unfortunate that the GP04 didn't appear in the series. I did some research and found out that the Feds were offered the GP04 by Anahiem Electronics but they turned it down due to its cost and also that it did not offer much difference from GP01FB. So AE turned to the Zeons who bought them and converted the design into Gerbera Tetra.
